For any person who desires such prizes, our cross-country cabin-to-cabin ski trips bestow the gifts of silence and of scenic beauty. Snow from the Québec winter veils the forest canopy and transforms the trail into a noiseless route through tunnels of snow-laden branches. Insulated from all exterior sound; all one hears is the sliding of one’s own skis in a white world against a bright blue sky. Periodically the trail leaves the forest and explores the open rolling terrain and frozen muskeg swamps of the Laurentian valleys. The views from the hilltops are superb. Tracks of wildlife are everywhere often telling a tale of a previous evening’s meal - mice, squirrel, hare, fox, beaver, otter, porcupine, weasel, grouse, moose, deer and wolf.

Your trip guide is Bill Pollock who has lots of “joie de vivre”, a pack full of new games, gourmet trail recipes and is as much at home with young inexperienced skiers as he is with Canadian Ski Marathon “Coureur de Bois”.

Réserve faunique de Papineau-Labelle (Papineau-Labelle Wildlife Reserve) has 18 cabins accommodating 4 to 12 persons on more than 100 km of old logging sleigh roads and specially cut ski trails. All loops start and end at Accueil Gagnon (Gagnon welcoming centre), about 21 km north of Duhamel. A large number of itineraries are possible. Daily distances involve 8 to 24 km of beginner-intermediate skiing. There are no long climbs or downhills, but where the trail does not follow old logging roads there are lots of short uphills, downhills (bumps) with the occasional sharp turn. Side trips to gain the view from Mont Devlin is an option under good conditions. Deer are often seen. Mattresses, propane cook stoves and lights are provided with heating by wood stoves. Other skiers often pack the trails. The price includes the cost of transporting our gear and food by snowmobile, which allows us more freedom for travel.

Price in Canadian dollars depend on number of people and number of days.
