The Thar desert also known as Great Indian Desert is located in the north-western part of India, state call Rajasthan “The land of Kings” this desert extends from border of northern state Panjab goes through Rajasthan all the way to south towards border of Gujarat state. While the eastern shore is Aravalli hills and in the west it goes few hundred km in to Pakistan (cholistan desert). Its area covering some 77,000 sq miles (200,000 sq km), makes it a prominent landmark on any satellite image of India.
